Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

Greetings from Indian Psychiatric Society, Technology and Psychiatry Subcommittee!

It is my immense pleasure to invite and welcome you all to the 1st National CME Symposium “Mind Meets Machine: Interface of Technology and Psychiatry” of the Technology and Psychiatry Subcommittee, Indian Psychiatric Society at Christian Medical College, Vellore.

It is very special moment for me that it is being held at my own Alma Mater.

Technology has relevant applications to academics, training, research, advocacy, care and service in Psychiatry and Mental Health.

The Indian Psychiatric Society’s Technology and Psychiatry Subcommittee has been a pioneer globally and has taken several novel initiatives via national and international webinars, annual online symposiums, annual workshops, lectures to create awareness and skill building in Technology and its application to Psychiatry and Mental Health.

This National CME Symposium aims to create awareness on Technology, Psychiatry and Mental Health.

The current scientific program covers highly relevant state of the Art topics such as AI and Medical Education, Precision Psychiatry, Ai Guided Psychopharmacology, Tele Psychiatry, Ethics and Regulatory Aspects of AI, Digitalisation and Data Protection.

The program has been designed keeping in mind the needs of Academicians, Practitioners and Researchers.

The CME Symposium will be held in person and online with hybrid mode to facilitate knowledge dissemination to one and all.

It provides an excellent opportunity for colleagues interested in Technology & Psychiatry to come together, connect and collaborate over excellently curated scientific sessions and networking program.

Looking forward to welcoming you all to Mind Meets Machine: Interface of Technology and Psychiatry at CMC, Vellore.

A WELCOME NOTE FROM THE ORGANISING SECRETARY

DR. STEPHEN AMARJEET JIWANMALL

ORGANISING SECRETARY, MIND MEETS MACHINE

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I am pleased to welcome you to the National Symposium on "Mind Meets Machine: Interface of Technology and Psychiatry."

We gather at a time when psychiatry is being transformed by unexpected developments; algorithms aiding diagnosis, chatbots providing initial support, and digital tools aiming to bridge the mental healthcare gap in our country. These are not future possibilities; they are already part of our clinics, research, and patients' lives.

This symposium is our joint effort to thoughtfully and critically engage with this reality, while keeping the core of our field, the human connection between clinician and patient in focus. Throughout this symposium, we will hear from clinicians, technologists, ethicists, and educators who will help us explore where technology can truly enhance psychiatric care, where it falls short, and where caution is needed. I hope these sessions inspire not just intellectual engagement but also honest debate, helping our field progress responsibly.

I sincerely thank our distinguished speakers and panelists for their time and expertise, the organising team for their hard work, and each of you for joining this conversation. I am confident that the discussions here will better prepare us as clinicians, teachers, and researchers, to handle the interface of mind and machine.
